Experience life by the sea in Scotland. Not just a coastal getaway, your cottage is the seafront itself. Explore the rugged coastline, observe marine life, soak up the sea air and discover a truly historic area.
We have restored the property without altering the original form to maintain its authenticity. The property is a traditional fisherman's cottage with exposed beams and a sunroom with uninterrupted views over the sea. Unusually for a property in a fishing village, the cottage is detached, has private parking for 3 cars and a large garden, loved by families and nature lovers.
All year round you can see dolphins swimming up and own the coast with tides. Grey seals are resident on the rocks and you can hear them calling. Puffins nest nearby in Findon Moor. Enjoy a break wave watching from the bottom of the garden then warming up by the wood burning stove.
The cottage is cosy and comfortable with all the basics like wifi, dishwasher, netflix and central heating. Plain White hotel grade China , pure cotton bedding and high tog duvets.
There is plenty to do along this stretch of the coast- sea kayaking, wild swimming, diving and snorkeling. Great cod fishing occurs from the rocks all year round. In summer the mackerel return in good numbers. Lobster and shore crabs can be caught from the rocks with care. There's a lobster pot and crab line. Climbers go bouldering on the rocks near the bay. At the other end of the village is a small pub for a bacon roll brunch and a pint.
It is a perfect get-away location for nature lovers with wildlife watching opportunities of dolphins, porpoise, peregrines, gannets and puffins. On rare occasions Minke and Humpback whales have been sighted. The surrounding rocks are home to many coastal plants.
Many people use the cottage as a base from which to see local attractions, including the imposing Dunnottar Castle, serene Crathes Castle gardens and Royal Deeside.
Stonehaven is home to an outdoor olympic-sized heated swimming pool and is famous for the fireball display on Hogmanay.
The surrounding region is really beautiful offering some of the best castles in the world - Crathes, Drum and Balmoral. Great gardens and parks and grand mountain landscapes of the Cairngorms. The county is famous for its golf courses and increasing recognised for its cycling routes.
