(although the restaurants are plentiful in the vicinity) or just have a simple snack
There is French and British Television available DVD player, music centre (including ipod docking station) and a range of books and magazines to enjoy.
There is a good sized double bedroom with fitted wardrobes and vanity unit with hairdryer supplied.
There is a modern bathroom with an ergonomic luxury power shower with body jets and and overhead spray

Carcassonne Oct Vacation
We really enjoyed the location of the property! Easy access from the train and easy walking access to the center of town and castle. Great apartment for a couple looking to explore Carcassonne. Nice large bathroom and clean, nicely renovated kitchen.

Location annoncée pour 4 personnes mais un seul lit et il faut payer un supplément pour utiliser le canapé. Soit disant Place de parking mais c’est une place ordinaire dans la rue donc il ne faut pas la quitter sinon on la perd et le stationnement est payant !! Rue très bruyante 3 mauvaises nuits dont une où nous sommes restés à la rue jusqu’à 2h du matin car les locataires du dessus avaient bloqué la porte d’entrée commune. Location payée en livres sterling ne correspond pas tout à fait au prix indiqué par abritel et frais en plus !!

This was a great appointment. It had a good location close to the train, restaurants and shops. Our hosts were so kind to greet us at the train station and walk us to the apartment and show us around. Thank you Raymond and Julie!

Nous avons essaye de joindre M Raymond Hainey ,pour nous excuse de notre retard . Mais le n° communiqué par notre hôte n'était soit disant pas le bon . Nous avons donc vérifié et recommencer pour avoir la même réponse . L appartement et la localisation bien , mais les seuls inconvénients étaient l'escalier, la cafetière qui fessait saute les fusibles et cette odeur pestilentielle caché par des diffuseurs de parfum ( 5 en tout)

Excellent séjour
L'appartement est très bien situé et équipé, l'accueil très chaleureux. Un bémol : l'annonce ne précise pas que la terrasse n'est pas attenante mais au deuxième étage alors que l'appartement est au rez de chaussée... Du coup c'est peu pratique même si la terrasse est très agréable et on ne pense pas non plus que l'appartement est au rez de chaussée.

Week in Carcassone
Raymnd and Julie collected us from the airport and took us for a quick tour of the town. This was invaluable to finding our way about later. The welcome pack was brilliant thankyou. The apartment very quickly became home. An ideal base for both the old and new City. Easy walking distance fore the Train Station and also Canal du Midi. The Petit Train leave from a couple of streets away and this will take you to the Old City which is on a hill if you do not fancy a walk. There is a bus to the nearby lake with lots of watersport and forest adventures available, plus a beach.

Beautiful Garden View!
The narrow, circular staircase to the top floor was well worth the effort. We enjoyed the apartment and terrace tremendously, listening to the bells of St. Vincent and feeling the breeze blowing in across the garden. We were blessed with a pleasant cool snap and the temperatures were lovely. The Carcassonne wine and loaf of bread were nice welcome gifts upon our arrival! We especially liked the location, being between Place Carnot and the pickup point for the Petit Train up to la Cite, which was recommended to us by Jacquelyn. A nice, relaxing visit to the south of France to conclude our long holiday in Europe. Now I will explain the reasons for the lower ratings on some of the categories. For "accuracy of listing," there are three units in the building. Although we originally inquired about the third-floor unit, we were told it was unavailable for our dates. Because of our son's mobility issues we were happy to get assigned the first-floor unit. But upon arrival, we found that we had been reassigned to the third-floor unit. This would have been good news to most guests, but without advanced knowledge about the switch, it was alarming to us to try to take our son up those very narrow, circular stairs. He was able to do it with two spotters but beware that they are probably the most intense stairs you will ever see this side of a ladder! There is a good, strong metal handrail and good lighting, though. As for "communication with the manager," we did not communicate during our stay directly with the owner. He had an emergency in the family which is quite understandable. But we were not told in advance about the unit change, and an email alert would have helped immensely to prepare us for the challenge ahead. Once we made it up the first night upon arrival, we considered other rentals but at the last minute it would have been very difficult to switch. In the end it worked out fine. We just limited our outings to limit the times we had our son use the stairs. The terrace and view are magnificent, and for anyone who is able-bodied, I highly recommend the top floor unit. The location is excellent being just a few blocks from the main shopping area. But the immediate street/block that the building is on does not feel very safe at night. There is some mystery loitering and loud family arguments going on, so if you're out at night, you do feel that you want to walk crisply and have your key ready. Overall, a lovely place to visit with some minor cautions.

In the Bastide
Right in the Bastide. Around the corner from St. Vincent church. 2 mins walk to the shops and main square. 20mins walk to the Citie. Clean, homely and really well equipped. Welcomed with a lift from the airport and bread butter and wine. Yum! Thanks Raymond and Jaqui.

Bastide Apartment
We totally enjoyed our time in Carcassonne because we had an apartment we enjoyed, with a great location and a caring owner. The apartment was comfortable, with a spacious kitchen and bath. The living and bedroom were small but comfortable. We enjoyed our time walking around Carcassonne. There was shopping and places to eat close. Sundays are more difficult in Carcassonne because many places close on Sunday and some on Monday. Thank you Raymond for coming by and checking on our comfort.

Ground Floor Apartment: Fantastic with Great Hosts
Firstly, Raymond and Julie are absolutely fabulous hosts. They kindly picked me up from the airport, offered to provide a quick tour of Carcassonne and even left a bottle of wine on arrival. A nice and much-appreciated touch. The apartment is fabulous. Centrally located, clean, comfortable and well equipped, it was perfect for my short, solo stay. My ground floor apartment only lacked a terrace (understandable in the centre of La Bastide). However the other two apartments in their block have a terrace and might be a better bet for a longer stay in the summer (and surely worth a 5 star rating as a result). Thank you both.

Les Bottes Cachees in Bastide St Louis, Carcassonne
We unfortunately arrived on the day when hours of heavy rain had caused severe disruption to the area, and deaths. So we were very lucky to be picked up from the airport by Raymund and the apartment hadn't been affected. The apartment is equipped for a much longer stay with washing machine and freezer. There are plenty of drawers and hanging space in the wardrobe, but no hooks for hanging wet waterproofs. I suspect it's not necessary very often, but we had a wet few days. We made the most of things, but most of the things other visitors had done weren't possible. The train service was disrupted so the trip to Quilon was out. The local church bells continued to ring throughout the day and evening, but was closed for refurbishment so the magnificent tower climb and views weren't available to us. The Museum of Fine Arts on Place Gambeta was good for several hours on a very wet Tuesday, having started towards La Cite. It's free to go in and they have lockers and an umbrella stand! Eventually restaurants and shops opened so we ate out at lunchtime and had salad and quiche or pizza at the apartment. We didn't find the latest visitor book so couldn't relate all our finds for others. But all in all, a lovely apartment. Neighbours were a bit loud at times.

Well appointed apartment, good location
We stayed for three nights in early September and found the apartment spacious and very comfortable. We had the ground-floor apartment with a nice kitchen, a dining area, a living/sitting room, a large bedroom and a modern bath. Although we only had breakfast at the apartment, the kitchen was well supplied if you wanted to make other meals. It's only a few minutes walk to the centre of the new city, and maybe 20 minutes to the old city. Raymond was very quick to respond to inquiries, and he picked us up at the train station. We highly recommend this property.
