Brand new two storey, compact (approximately 400 sq. ft.), cottage located on the Bay of Fundy/Atlantic Ocean. This property is nearly 2 acres of privacy on the edge of the town of Meteghan near Smuggler's Cove Provincial Park. The property faces both south and west, which allows for the spectacular views.
Located in what was once old Acadia, the property was first settled in the early 1700's, with the evidence of an old, rock wall nearly covered over on the north side of the property. The property has a variety of trees and vegetation, ranging from old, mature apple and evergreen trees to much younger trees. When we began construction last year, we had to clear enormous amounts of dead and dying trees off the live trees, due to the sometimes ferocious Atlantic winds which blow hard from the southwest. It's believed that no one has lived on the property since at least the 1950's or even before that. Consequently, this home is built in an area which is quite raw, which adds to the park like feeling.
This tiny home has all the conveniences of a much larger home, with a Ninja Convection Oven, microwave, toaster, Keurig 2 type coffee maker, custom shower, all in a convenient, modern design. The lower deck has a live edged bar top that wraps around it's entirety and the upper deck, which walks out from the bedroom with it's king sized bed, has some of the most spectacular views that can be imagined. Here, you can sit and watch various types of fishing boats working their trade to sunsets which are truly unbelievable.
We've now added a sunroom/lounge with windows around three sides and it's own tv, comfortable sitting area and free wifi. The sunroom is located about 150 feet from the mini home and has its own unique views.
Outside, there are paths to walk around and explore the property. The property wraps around the small cove out to the ocean front. Here, you can sit and relax around the enclosed fire pit.
This property is within walking distance of Smuggler's Cove Provincial Park (approximately 500 metres) and the Sip Cafe (less then a kilometre). There are numerous restaurants, fish markets and shops within a couple of minutes of driving in Meteghan and the connecting towns. There are numerous sandy beaches close by and spots to go clam digging at low tide. The entire area abounds with the rich, Acadian flavour in the various festivals throughout the summer months. The vibrant city of Yarmouth with the all the services and attractions of a much larger city is located about 20 minutes away, with its scheduled service to Maine in the U.S.A. Digby, located just over a half hour away in the other direction, is another city with its own distinctive flair and fun to explore. Further along is the Digby neck with all it's whale watching services. The entire southwest corner of Nova Scotia, with it's rich history is easily explorable, with much to be discovered within an hour's drive.
