We had a fantastic time at Casa Lucciola. We know the region reasonably well and have been visiting Le Marche for ten years or so now. This was our best trip yet, and we ended up wishing we’d found this house years ago!
Our 3 kids (8, 6, and 4) loved the garden, the trampoline, and especially the swing chair, and while the pool was of course a little chilly in April, it was a challenge keeping our eldest out of it. We made daily visits to the brilliant sandy beach at Porto San Giorgio (an easy 35 minute drive) and explored a number of the towns between the house the coast. You’ll find brilliant food, wine, ice cream and hospitality wherever you go. But Il Quadrifoglio on the beach at Porto San Giorgio; Altramare just a block behind; Osteria del’Arco in Magliana di Tenna are all restaurants serving food of a very high standard, that would be twice the price in Tuscany or elsewhere. The best Ice Cream we found was in the beautiful town square at Servigliano.
This really is a wonderful part of Italy. It works superbly well year-round as a base for beaches and the mountains, and it’s a pleasure simply to get in the car (or on your bike if that way inclined) and see where the road takes you.
Thank you to Zoe (and Maja!) for making this such a great place to stay.
