FERNWOOD CABIN: Our rustic cabin on the Wisconsin River is the perfect location for a peaceful nature retreat with the comforts you are used to - full kitchen, AC, Smart TV, and internet. This is a beautifully wooded property with old-growth pines, colorful maples, and a forest floor dotted with native ferns. Riverside is a hammock and patio / firepit area for fun campfires and storytelling. Fernwood Cabin offers nature enthusiasts the perfect escape situated amongst towering pines with fun forest paths and ample shoreline. Enjoy fishing from the dock, kayaking along the river, or sharing stories at the campfire. This secluded haven promises an unforgettable experience, allowing you to reconnect with nature and create lasting memories.
Fernwood's open-concept layout connects the bedroom with the living room offering a queen bed and a twin trundle for sleeping.
The three-season front porch is perfect for dining and provides direct views of the river flowage. A full kitchen with refrigerator, stove/oven, and microwave is equipped to help you prepare delicious meals. All pots, pans, dishes, and cutlery are provided. For an authentic campfire cooking experience, there is an iron grate over the riverside firepit that is excellent for hotdogs, burgers and smores. The cabin has an updated full bath, which includes a shower, sink, and commode. Other creature comforts include air conditioning, satellite internet, an electronic fireplace for heat and ambiance, and a Smart TV set up for streaming.

PETS: We are dog-friendly! We allow a maximum of 2 dogs for $20/day (a max of $120 per stay). Just select the pet option when booking your stay.
RIVER: Head down the forest path to the private dock on the river. Fish from the dock or launch the 2 kayaks or pedalboat and head out on a river adventure. The Wisconsin River flows directly through Rhinelander, providing ample opportunity for canoeing and kayaking. The river is dam-controlled, so water levels remain constant throughout the year. The Wisconsin River possesses some of the world’s best freshwater game fish like walleye, sturgeon, and northern pike. Weedy areas are also home to big panfish and largemouth bass.
AREA: The property is conveniently located just 10 minutes north of downtown Rhinelander and the many restaurants, stores, and recreational opportunities that the area offers. We are also minutes from countless lakes and the Northern Highland State Forest, which has over 236,000 acres to explore.
Due to Oneida County regulations, this property requires a minimum 7-night booking. Shorter bookings are not permitted, and we are subject to penalties for non-compliance. Therefore: Summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day): 7-night bookings only. Fall/Winter/Spring: 7-night bookings with flexible check-in and check-out dates. While the booking is for 7 nights, we understand you may not need the full duration. These weekly rates are priced equivalent to a 3-night booking.
Cancellation Policy: A non-refundable $300 is required and is applied toward the total and is only refundable within 72 hours of the time of booking. If your arrival date is within 30 days of booking, payment in full is required. Cancellations or changes to stay dates are not permitted within 30 days of arrival. Cancellations or changes that are made within thirty (30) days of the arrival date, forfeit the entire reservation amount while cancellations made more than thirty (30) days in advance of your arrival only forfeit the $300 payment made at the time of booking.
